Our neighbors and the Town of Bolton allowed us to build our wonderful garden pavilion based on a contract of trust and respect. We are totally committed to preserving the integrity of our operations and the rights of our neighbors to peacefully enjoy their property and the rural integrity of their homes. While music is a very important aspect of your wedding or reception, the music should compliment the venue. Carefully selected, your music will create the atmosphere that makes the event unique. We request that you consider soft elegant background music for your wedding or function – from the traditional string or woodwind quartet to a harpist, pianist or perhaps a classical guitarist.
In a rural community like Bolton, ambient noise is at a very low level so any additions to these levels are generally more noticeable, which makes it important for us to control the volume of music, announcements and activities associated with your wedding or reception. Music, announcements and activities associated with your wedding or reception should allow your guests to continue to carry on a normal conversation.
If noise is coming from outside e.g. a garden party, then it is likely to be louder to neighbors than if it were coming from indoors and this might cause more of a disturbance. We believe music will pose a problem if you envision having a DJ or large band play at your event or wedding. Problems may arise because music levels, especially with DJ's and bands, increase as the event progresses, while noise levels in the external environment may fall. Dance and disco music, in particular rely on a bass beat, which can create a booming noise in neighboring premises. We believe this type of music will pose a problem if you envision having a DJ or large band play at your event or wedding unless you understand and accept the responsibilities associated with our commitment to our neighbors.
Terms of Understanding with respect to Noise Control
The determination of acceptable levels of music and noise is at the sole and exclusive discretion of Nashoba Valley Spirits, Ltd.
No noise, music or announcements, will be allowed to exceed 85 decibels at the source. The intensity of sound is measured in decibels. Normal conversation has a level of approximately 60 decibels and a lawnmower emits noise of about 85bB..
At no time will any source of sound from your event be allowed to cause any increase to the ambient sound pressure level of the neighborhood when measured at the owner’s property line. Ambient sound pressure level means the sound pressure level of the all-encompassing noise associated with a given environment, usually a composite of sounds from many sources.
Musicians/music will be monitored at least 1/2 hour before your event to establish sound levels compliant with these terms. Levels may be adjusted lower should environmental conditions change.
Acceptable noise levels will be continuously monitored during the event to insure acceptable levels are maintained.
